Missouri Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Hopkins County Wreck

A Missouri man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 69 near the 101-mile marker in Hopkins County Tuesday night.

Kentucky State Police Post Two spokesman Trooper Rob Austin said they were called to the scene shortly before 10:00 by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department.

Austin added preliminary investigation revealed 55-year-old Jesse Steven Gott, of Dexter, Missouri, was operating a 2015 Peterbilt with a trailer southbound on Interstate 69. He said for an unknown reason, Gott’s vehicle crossed the median and both northbound lanes, struck a guardrail and the concrete bridge end of the Wells Road overpass, before overturning multiple times.

Gott was pronounced deceased at the scene by Hopkins County Coroner Dennis Mayfield. The investigation is ongoing by state police Trooper Hunter Carroll.
