September Neblett

One of two sisters charged in connection to a carjacking that led to a Hopkinsville police officer being shot in February 2019 has taken a plea deal offered by the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

September Neblett was charged with complicity to first-degree robbery and receiving stolen property under $10,000 for her role in the carjacking and pursuit on North Drive that led to Hopkinsville Police Officer Jeremy Davidson being shot and injured.

September Neblett and her defense attorney, Chris Woodall appeared in Christian Circuit Court before Judge John Atkins Wednesday morning and entered a guilty plea as part of the agreement. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jared Smith, who was standing in for Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling, recited the plea agreement for the record, which included an amended charge to the complicity to first-degree robbery charge and an agreement to testify against the alleged shooter, Keith Kuzyk.

He added the Commonwealth has no objections to her being released until sentencing with certain conditions, including wearing an ankle monitor.

Judge Atkins then released September on her own recognizance with limitations.

Judge Atkins set a sentencing hearing for 8:30 on the morning of December 2nd.

Autumn Neblett

September’s sister, Autumn Neblett also appeared before Judge Atkins with her defense attorney David Rye, who said he has a lose end to tie up in Montgomery County before she can enter into a plea agreement. He asked for a hearing to be set on November 4th and said a plea would be entered at that time, similar to September’s agreement.

The charges stem from February 18, 2019, when Hopkinsville police reported the Neblett sisters, Anthony Johnson and Kuzyk were involved in a carjacking at Walmart on Clinic Drive in Hopkinsville. That led to a pursuit on North Drive in which Kuzyk fired multiple shots at Officer Davidson, hitting him in the arm and grazing his head. Police arrested Autumn Neblett shortly thereafter after she was found in a dugout on the campus of University Heights Academy. Kuzyk, Johnson, and September Neblett were able to flee to Montgomery County and were arrested later that night.

The sisters and Johnson have remained lodged in the Christian County Jail while Kuzyk was lodged in the Montgomery County Jail where he is being held on other charges not related to this case.
