Governor Beshear Under Quarantine After COVID Exposure

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says he and his family will remain under quarantine after being exposed to a person who tested positive for COVID-19 Saturday.

Governor Beshear issued a statement Sunday afternoon saying that they were quarantined after receiving word that one his security detail tested positive for COVID-19 Saturday.

Beshear says they will remain in quarantine and do not feel they have potentially exposed others to the virus.

He adds he will continue working while under quarantine.

Meanwhile, Governor Beshear announced there were 852 new COVID-19 cases reported Sunday afternoon.  Of those cases ninety were children 18 and under, with 23 children five and under.  The youngest child was just 23 months old.

The Governor says Kentucky recorded 7,675 new coronavirus cases last week, which was the highest weekly toll of new cases.  Last week’s total was up by 1,540 compared to the previous week.

Governor Beshear announced three more deaths Sunday.  The deaths include a 33-year-old Jefferson County man, a 60-year-old Hopkins County man, and a 70-year-old woman from Warren County.
