A section of Highway 91 North/Marion Road in Caldwell County was blocked for several hours Friday morning following a tractor trailer roll-over accident.

Caldwell County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Chris Noel states deputies were dispatched to Highway 91 North/Marion Road, near the intersection with Skin Frame Creek Road, around 9:18 in reference to an overturned tractor trailer. He adds preliminary investigation revealed 43-year-old Jimmy Maulding, of Madisonville, was traveling southbound in a tractor trailer for Brett Chappell Trucking out of Dawson Springs when a rear axle on the truck locked up.

As Maulding attempted to go around the curve the trailer came loose and dropped off the right side of the roadway into a ditch line, striking a mailbox, and overturning onto the passenger side, coming to a final rest half on the roadway, half in the ditch line. Maulding was not injured in the accident.

Chief Deputy Noel notes the tractor trailer was hauling tire scraps, which scattered throughout a nearby field during the course of the accident. One lane in the area was blocked until just before one Friday afternoon as crews offloaded the tire scraps and righted the overturned tractor trailer.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Jeff’s Towing out of Madisonville, Princeton Fire & Rescue, Caldwell County EMS, and the State Highway Department.
