Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charges Against Hopkinsville Man

A Hopkinsville man was charged with possession of meth after a traffic stop on East 7th Street Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 39-year-old Byron Williams was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by police near the intersection of Thompson Street. The driver of the vehicle reportedly gave officers consent to search and they found a syringe under Williams’s seat.

Williams was arrested on a warrant for probation violation and after getting to the jail police say a small bag containing a substance that appeared to be meth was located in his pocket.

He is charged with first-degree promoting contraband and possession of meth.
