Trial Dates Set For Oak Grove Murder Suspects

Leonardo Miller, II

Separate trial dates have been scheduled for two men accused of killing a Clarksville teen and dumping his body on the side of a road in Oak Grove over four years ago.

Deqavion James and Leonardo Miller are charged with murder, first-degree robbery, and tampering with physical evidence. The charges stem from July 20, 2016, when the two men are accused of fatally shooting 19-year old DeAndre Palmer and then hiding his body in a closet before eventually dumping his body on the side of Carter Road near Ghost Bridge in Oak Grove. Police found Palmer’s body on July 20, 2016.

Miller’s defense attorney, Clayton Brown, informed Judge Atkins they have not been about to resolve the case and requested his client and James be tried separately.

Judge Atkins set James’ trial date for March 15-26 and Miller’s trial is scheduled for April 12-23.

James’ defense attorney David Rye previously filed a motion for bond, which Judge Atkins denied.

The Commonwealth is seeking the death penalty in this case.
