Beshear Calls for Cameron to Make Public All Evidence in Breonna Taylor Case

In the wake of the grand jury findings in Louisville regarding the Breonna Taylor case, Governor Andy Beshear has requested Attorney General Daniel Cameron to release and make public all evidence in the case.

His request came a few hours after a Jefferson County grand jury indicted former Louisville Police Detective Brett Hankinson on three counts of wanton endangerment. Hankinson was one of three officers who served a search warrant at Taylor’s apartment in March. Hankinson was charged with shooting into adjoining apartments when Taylor’s boyfriend opened fire on an officer who breached the door with the warrant. Officers Jon Mattingly and Myles Cosgrove returned fire with Cosgrove firing the shot that killed Taylor. Neither Mattingly nor Cosgrove were indicted with Cameron calling the shooting justified.

Beshear didn’t openly say whether he agreed or disagreed with the grand jury findings but said Cameron needs to make all of the evidence public.

Beshear also said Cameron should disclose the racial and demographic makeup of the grand jury, something the attorney general declined to do when asked Wednesday.
