Municipal Center Reopens Friday After Postive COVID Exposure

The Hopkinsville Municipal Center reopened Friday morning after the building was closed Thursday afternoon in order to be sanitized due to a positive COVID-19 case inside the facility this week.

City officials canceled the Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for Thursday night after an attendee at the City Council meeting Tuesday night tested positive for the coronavirus. Officials canceled the meeting out of an abundance of caution and to sanitize the building.

City officials reassured the public that guidelines from the city’s Healthy at Work reopening plan were in place for all employees and guests at the meeting. Those guidelines include limiting in-person meeting capacity to 50%, mandatory temperature checks, use of face coverings, and additional facility cleanings. The building is also equipped with hand sanitizer stations and floor decals reminding everyone to practice social distancing.
