Third Highest Single-Day COVID Case Total Announced in Kentucky Friday

Governor Andy Beshear announced Friday the third highest single-day total of new COVID-19 cases.

Governor Beshear says 948 cases were announced Friday, raising the statewide total to at least 55,704. He adds 151 of the newly reported cases were from children ages 18 and younger, of which 24 were children ages 5 and under.

The governor also announced 9 new deaths, including an 85-year-old man from Christian County, a 62-year-old man from Hopkins County, and a 78 and an 82-year-old woman from Todd County.

As of Friday, there were at least 960,430 coronavirus tests performed in Kentucky. The positivity rate currently stands at 4.70%.
