Lyon County Sheriff Brent White Receives Clean 2019 Audit

Lyon County’s current sheriff received a clean audit of the 2019 Sheriff’s Financial Statement.

State Auditor Mike Harmon released the audit for Lyon County Sheriff Brent White Thursday and reported no instances of noncompliance or any material weaknesses in matters involving internal control over financial reporting and its operation.

State law requires the auditor to annually audit the accounts of each county sheriff with two reports each year, one reporting the audit of the sheriff’s tax account and the other reporting on the audit of the fee account used to operate the office.

According to Auditor Harmon’s office, the financial statement fairly presented the receipts, disbursements, and excess fees of the Lyon County Sheriff in conformity with the regulatory basis of accounting.

The sheriff’s responsibilities include collecting property taxes, providing law enforcement and performing services for the county fiscal court and courts of justice and is funded through statutory commissions and fees collected in conjunction with these duties.

The full audit report can be found here.
