SWK EDC Welcomes New Board Members

The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council (SWK EDC) welcomed new board members and approved the slate of officers during their virtual meeting Monday afternoon.

Board chair Lee Conrad announced that Kevin Atwood, Greg Moore, and Oak Grove Mayor Theresa Jarvis have recently joined the board.

The board also welcomed Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel as an ex-officio member. Bentzel is automatically a member of the board because of the by-laws that say the Christian County Schools Superintendent is automatically a member. During the meeting, board members discussed adding to the by-laws to make Trigg County Schools Superintendent Bill Thorpe and Todd County Schools Superintendent Mark Thomas ex-officio members. A vote on the matter will take place during the September meeting.

In other news, the board approved the 2020-2021 slate of officers that was presented to them by the nominating committee. The committee is made up of Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch and the judge-executives from Christian, Todd, and Trigg counties.

SWK EDC Executive Director Carter Hendricks presented the list approved by the nominating committee.

The committee members were approved unanimously.

The board also looked at a presentation during the meeting that Hendricks says is shared with new and existing industries to help show off the three-county region.

The next South Western Kentucky EDC meeting will be held on Monday, September 28th at noon, it’s not known if the meeting will be held virtually or in-person.
