Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has issued an executive order for people facing eviction from their homes due to the inability to make rent payments during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the executive order, landlords must give tenants at least 30 days of notice before an eviction can take place. During those 30 days, the landlord and tenant must meet and confer to try and work out an agreement.
No penalties, late fees, or interest can be charged relating to the nonpayment of rent from March 6 through December 31, of this year.
Beshear said the Healthy at Home Eviction Relief Fund will be made available to reimburse eligible landlords for missed rent payments and forward them some advanced rent so tenants can stay in their homes. The fund will come through federal CARES Act money.

The Governor made the announcement at his Monday media briefing where he announced 373 new cases of COVID-19 with the state’s seven-day rolling average of new cases holding steady at 635. The state’s positivity rate was also below five-percent for the second time in three days.
