Larry Vaught Joins Edge Media Group’s Statewide Network

A well-known University of Kentucky sportscaster is joining The Edge Media Group statewide radio network.

Larry Vaught will join the network that is currently the home to YourSportsEdge.comYourAgEdge.com, and Travelin’ the Bluegrass.

Edge Media Group President Beth Mann says she has followed Vaught’s career since 1983 when she attended the University of Kentucky.

Vaught says he is excited to launch his two-minute radio program statewide.

Mann adds this is the perfect time to launch the new addition to The Edge Media Group, as fewer sports activities are happening. Even with the slow-down in sports, Vaught says there is still news to report.

In addition to the radio segments, Vaught’s blog currently at VaughtsViews.com will soon make the transition to YourSportsEdge.com.

Vaught will cover several sports at the college and will even throw in a few personal stories from time to time.

Mann says Vaught is one of the best and The Edge Media Group is thrilled to have him join the statewide network.

Currently, Vaught has a syndicated UK sports column appearing in over 30 newspapers and websites across the state and does a 45-minute UK sports show with Tom Leach on WPBK every Thursday.

He lives in Danville and has worked at The Advocate-Messenger for more than 40 years, even serving as the newspaper’s sports editor from the mid-1990s through 2015. He is also a seven-time Kentucky Sportswriter of the Year and a member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame, Danville Schools Hall of Fame, Danville Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame, and the 12th Region Boys and Girls Basketball Hall of Fame.

Vaught has also been named an Honorary Guardsman by the Kentucky National Guard for his contributions to that organization. He also helped found the Kentucky Sportswriters Association and helped create the Mr. Football Award.

His first statewide ‘Vaught’s View’ segment will air on Tuesday, September 1, on stations across the Commonwealth.
