Another annual event in Hopkinsville has been canceled due to concerns surrounding the novel coronavirus.

Assistant Director of Community & Development Services, Holly Boggess announced Friday morning the 3rd annual Hoptown Harvest Fest previously scheduled for September 24-26 in downtown Hopkinsville has been cancelled. She says organizers have tried to devise an appropriate means of planning and implementing the 3-day festival while adhering to the current social distancing requirements and being assured all attendees are safe.

However, Boggess adds the underlying premise behind the festival is to encourage social interaction and community engagement in a celebration of the community’s agricultural heritage.

One of the highlights of the festival is the Founders Square Feast: A Farm To Table Dinner. Boggess says nearly 160 supporters fill the tables at the Farmers Market Pavillion who enjoy interacting with friends, neighbors, and other community members while being served a locally sourced and prepared 4-course meal accompanied by locally produced spirits, beer, and wine. She adds hosting the event in any other fashion would drastically diminish the experience participants have come to love.

Other highlights of the festival include the Downtown Farmers Market Vintage Arts & Crafts Fair, and the Bourbon Mashoree.

Boggess says plans are to resume the Hoptown Harvest Festival in 2021 on September 23-25 in downtown Hopkinsville.
