Elkton Man Charged With Assaulting Todd County Deputy

An Elkton man was charged with assaulting a deputy after a high-speed pursuit Wednesday afternoon.

Todd County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to stop 38-year-old Robert Morgan for crossing the centerline several times on Highland Lick Road. Morgan reportedly fled from deputies at 100 mph and failed to use his turn signal or stop at stop signs during the pursuit.
The pursuit ended when he allegedly hit a deputy’s vehicle on Colliers Springs Road. Morgan reportedly hit a deputy with his head and tried to kick him before attempting to flee on foot. During a search of his vehicle deputies say meth and marijuana along with syringes were found.
He is charged with DUI, third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana and meth.
