A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Trigg County man who is accused in the fatal shooting of a Muhlenburg County man.

Montie Streeval

During an arraignment in Trigg District Court Tuesday morning, District Judge Jamus Redd read the charges against 31-year old Montie Streeval, of Cadiz, which are murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Streeval told Judge Redd he did not have an attorney at this time and the judge appointed a public defender to the case.

Judge Redd set a preliminary hearing for Streeval for Tuesday morning, August 18 at 10:00.

Streeval is accused of killing 25-year old Cameron Phillips, of Powderly. Kentucky State Police report that Phillips’ body was found in a wooded area near a cemetery on Old Rocky Point Road in Trigg County. The remains of Phillips’ badly composed body were found Thursday and sent to the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville Friday. Police add the autopsy revealed Phillips died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

He is lodged in the Christian County Jail and being held on a $1,000,000 bond.
