Second Todd County Minor Tests Positive For COVID-19 Thursday

The Todd County Health Department reports a second minor tested positive for the coronavirus Thursday, becoming the third minor this week who has been confirmed to be infected with the virus.

Director Jen Harris says the minor is isolated at home with mild symptoms.  She adds the minor is connected to the 45th case, also a minor who was confirmed positive Thursday morning. She points out both minors have a large number of contacts.

According to Harris, there are three sports teams that have been quarantined in Todd County in the past two weeks. She adds this is similar to the trends they are seeing across the state in other communities in relation to high school sports teams. She says the health department is working very closely with the school district’s superintendent and athletic director to effectively communicate with parents and players about quarantine as well as continuing to practice their sport safely.

Harris goes on to say the health department has indicators in place to help determine if the number of players infected warrant discontinuation of practices, however, she points out those indicators had not been met as of Thursday.

The latest case brings the total to 46 cases in the county since the outbreak began. Of that number, six are active and 40 have recovered.
