Christian County’s COVID-19 Cases Continue to Climb

Christian County has hit a new high in daily active COVID-19 cases with Wednesday’s total 13 more than Tuesday.

According to information released by the health department, 21 new cases were reported Wednesday and eight recoveries. The 143 active cases are the most for the county since the pandemic began and is a 48-percent increase since July 4.

65-percent of the active cases involve people between the age of 22 and 59. Active cases involving people under 22 have increased by 11 since last Wednesday, and active cases involving people 60 and older have nearly doubled from 13 to 23 in a week.

Christian County, which ranked 16th in the state in total cases midway through last month, has re-entered the top 10 with 365 total cases. The county has reported 116 cases of the virus in the first 15 days of July after reporting 123 for the entire month of June.

The health department update did not release information regarding number of tests or positivity rates.
