Christian County Reports Increase of Eleven Active Cases Tuesday

The Christian County Health Department is reporting an increase of eleven active COVID-19 cases Tuesday making it the 2nd largest 24-hour increase since the pandemic began in March.

Spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney says the county now has 248 cases, of which 83 are active. At least 6,649 tests have been administered between the health department and Jennie Stuart Health giving Christian County a positivity rate of 3.7-percent, which is below the five-percent threshold of the recommended positive rate by the White House. She said two of the 83 active cases are hospitalized at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Sweeney said African-Americans make up 22-percent of the county’s COVID-19 rate, which is a three-percent drop in the past week. She added 161 people have recovered from the virus.

The Christian County Health Department will conduct free COVID-19 testing at Tie Breaker Park through Thursday from 9 to 11, but no testing will occur this Friday and Saturday, due to the 4th of July holiday.
