After a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases over the weekend, the Christian County Health Department reported just one additional case on Tuesday.

According to information released Tuesday, there were 39 active cases in the county which is a decline of two cases from Monday. Two people are reported hospitalized at Jennie Stuart Medical Center with COVID-19.

The health department also said they are beginning to see an increase in clusters of cases across Christian County. Spokesman Amanda Sweeney said any time two or more cases are diagnosed within a facility or workplace, the cases are referred to as “clusters”. They did not release where in Christian County those clusters were located.

At least 5,600 COVID-19 tests have been administered in Christian County and 137 people have recovered from the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Kentucky’s Tuesday COVID-19 total has kept with the trend of increasing from Monday’s numbers with 315 new cases reported. That total is the most in 11 days and is the third straight Tuesday with over 200 cases.

After reporting no deaths from Sunday and Monday due to COVID-19, the state reported 11 new deaths Tuesday including an 84-year-old woman from Graves County and a 106-year-old man from Logan County.

The state also reported at least 3,591 people have recovered from the coronavirus which is an increase of 160 in the past week.
