South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council (EDC) board members approved their 2020-21 budget and heard updates on local industries during their Monday afternoon virtual meeting.

Executive Director Carter Hendricks told members the final version of the budget has been reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hendricks adds their spending is in line with adjustments made to expected income.

Hendricks also gave an update on local industries, including a snapshot of the counties they represent. He also discussed industry visits they hope to make in the coming year to help with retention efforts.

In exciting news for the area, Hendricks shared that Oak Grove was recently named ‘Most Patriotic City in Kentucky’ by Insurify. The company honors the most patriotic community in each state and uses data to identify communities with the highest share of military personnel.

The next South Western Kentucky EDC meeting will be held Monday, July 27 at Noon, with hopes to host an in-person meeting.
