A Hopkinsville man was arrested after he reportedly led law enforcement on a pursuit in Hopkinsville Saturday morning.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies say the pursuit started around 4 a.m. when Hopkinsville Police attempted to stop 38-year-old Jeremy Nelson in connection to a theft of cigarettes from a gas station.

He reportedly fled from Hopkinsville Police in a vehicle for a short distance before they terminated the pursuit.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies found Nelson later as he turned onto West 7th Street from Barrow Street and he fled again before hitting a deputies vehicle at the intersection of North Drive and Thomas Street.

Nelson reportedly told deputies he had used cocaine an hour before the pursuit and cocaine was found inside the vehicle.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, possession of cocaine, DUI, and several traffic violations.
