Caldwell Grand Jury Returns Indictment on Omaha Man Involved in 2019 Fatal Crash

25-year-old Jaryonlee J. Wells, of Omaha, Nebraska

The Caldwell County Grand Jury returned an indictment Monday on various charges in connection with a 2019 accident that claimed the life of a Nebraska woman.

The grand jury returned an indictment on 25-year-old Jaryonlee J. Wells, of Omaha, Nebraska, charging him with first degree possession of methamphetamine, tampering with physical evidence, drug paraphernalia, marijuana possession, no operators license, and failure to wear a seatbelt. The charges stem from an incident on November 20th in which the Kentucky State Police reported Troopers responded to a single vehicle collision off the eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Caldwell County near the 56 mile marker. Preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle operated by Wells abruptly exited the western part of the roadway and collided with several trees. The vehicle was also occupied by 22-year-old Heidi Renter and one-year-old Elyonha Wells, both of Omaha. Renter was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell County Coroner’s Office. Both Jaryonlee and Elyonha Wells were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Once released from the hospital Wells was served an arrest warrant by KSP Troopers for the aforementioned charges. Following the grand jury’s return of the indictment Wells was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
