Wife of Congressman Andy Barr Dies

Eleanor Carol Leavell Barr, the wife of U.S. Representative Andy Barr died unexpectedly in the family’s home Tuesday.

Media outlets report she was 39-years old. In a statement to media, Andy Barr’s Chief of Staff Mary Rosado says during this tragic time they respectfully ask for privacy for Congressman Barr and his family to grieve Mrs. Barr being called home to heaven.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says Barr’s warmth filled whatever room she entered and her contributions made Kentucky a better place for everyone.

Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Ryan Quarles says as a Scott County native, he’s known her all his life. He went on to say she was a valued member of the community and always had a smile on her face.

Governor Andy Beshear tweeted Tuesday night he is praying for their family at this time.

Barr grew up in Georgetown and went to the University of Kentucky where she majored in communications and information. She leaves behind her husband and two young girls.

U.S. Congressman Andy Barr serves the cities of Frankfort, Lexington, Richmond, Cynthiana, among others.
