State Police Investigating Claims of Misconduct at Trigg Sheriff’s Office

Kentucky State Police has opened an investigation into possible criminal misconduct involving members of the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office.

Post One Spokesman Adam Jones said state police received the complaint and opened an investigation.  Jones did not provide any other specifics or say who or how many may be involved.

Trigg County Fiscal Court met in executive session Monday night for 40 minutes regarding a personnel matter and did not take any action. Judge-executive Hollis Alexander told the News Edge that he was made aware of the investigation in April and said it was his understanding the FBI is involved as well.

Jones said the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office has assigned a special prosecutor in the event charges result from the investigation.

Jason Barnes was elected sheriff of Trigg County in 2018 after defeating two-term Sheriff Ray Burnam in the Republican primary.  Attempts to reach Barnes Tuesday afternoon for a comment on the investigation were unsuccessful.
