J.C. Penney In Hopkinsville Among 154 Store Closures

The J.C. Penney store located in Bradford Square Mall in Hopkinsville is among more than 150 stores that will close nationwide as part of the company’s restructuring plan after filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy in mid-May.

Officials with J.C. Penney Company said after evaluating its footprint and analysis of store performance and strategic fit for the company, they had identified 154 stores in its first phase of closures. Store closing sales for the first round of closures are expected to take 10-16 weeks.

Company officials say they expect additional phases of store closings will begin in the coming weeks.

JC Penney has been a part of Bradford Square Mall, formerly the Pennyrile Mall, on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville since the mall opened over four decades ago.
