State officials are releasing guidelines for the reopening of childcare services in Kentucky that will take place in June.
Governor Andy Beshear said Thursday that auctions will be allowed to resume on June 1 and June 29 is now the target date for Kentucky bars to open, along with groups of 50 or less.
Eric Friedlander, the secretary for the cabinet for health and family services, says in-home child care programs can open on June 8. He said center-based licensed child care programs can reopen to all families on June 15.
Friedlander said they will be asking the centers to conduct temperature and wellness checks for everyone and encouraged them to stagger playground time outside.
He said the maximum group size should be 10 kids and that those kids should remain in the same group all day.
On the topic of face masks, Friedlander said all adults should wear face masks, but kids under the age of five should not. He added older kids should wear a mask if they are able to.
Friedlander also said kids that are eligible for free or reduced lunch or on the SNAP program will get $313.50 per student automatically added to their SNAP or EBT card, and parents can use the extra money for extra groceries under the program.
The governor said he expects to have the guidance completed Friday for starting youth sports on June 15.
