Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Tuesday that construction will move forward on the Fort Campbell Middle School.
Senator McConnell’s office says an agreement has been reached with the U.S. Department of Defense to begin construction on Fort Campbell Middle School following Senator McConnell securing nearly $63 million in funding from the Fiscal Year 2019 appropriations bill. Officials say the former high school will be renovated to become Mahaffey Middle School.
101st Airborne Commander Major General Brian Winski says the school will be great for a few reasons.
Senator McConnell says building the school has been one of his top priorities for a long time. He adds this is a way to show gratitude to those who serve our country.
