CCPS Cancels In-Person Classes For Remainder Of School Year

Christian County Public Schools will not resume in-person classes for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year based upon recommendations from the White House and Governor Andy Beshear.

School officials made the announcement Monday afternoon after superintendents with school districts across Kentucky participated in a teleconference with the governor. During that conference, he recommended that schools statewide not resume in-person classes for this school year fearing a spike in COVID-19 cases.

Christian County Public Schools spokesman John Rittenhouse says this has many implications and impacts student’s activities. Due to these circumstances, he announced Prom 2020 and Project Graduation will not be held.

In addition, Rittenhouse says graduation will not be in-person. He adds district staff and high school principals are working diligently to come up with alternate graduation plans, which will be communicated by the principals in the near future.

Rittenhouse tells the News Edge Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days for students will continue through mid-May.
