Judge Alexander Clarifies Concerns About LBSRP COVID-19 Shelter

Trigg County Judge/Executive Hollis Alexander clarified concerns during Monday’s fiscal court meeting concerning Governor Beshear’s announcement about Lake Barkley State Resort Park and what they are doing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Beshear announced last week that Lake Barkley and Lake Cumberland state parks were going to begin housing people who needed a place to stay away from others, as they may have been exposed to the virus.

Alexander told magistrates he had received some harsh phone calls from county residents but adds they have no control over what happens at the lodge.

Alexander adds the lodge is staffed with nurses and members of the National Guard.

Concerns were also raised about the possibility of patients being brought in from other area hospitals. Alexander says that is currently not the case at Lake Barkley State Resort Park.

He adds the county was given about an hour and a half notice before the lodge was being used during the COVID-19 pandemic.
