Small Number Of Ft. Campbell Soldiers Deploy To NJ

The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) announced the deployment of some Fort Campbell soldiers to New Jersey.

During the Fort Campbell Town Hall Tuesday night, Major General Brian Winski says around 10 soldiers from the 101st sustainment brigade deployed Tuesday to Fort Dix to aid in COVID-19 relief efforts. He adds they will assist with coordinating and supporting Army logistical efforts and are prepared to conduct operations in additional locations if necessary. This deployment is in addition to about 300 soldiers from 531st Hospital Center who deployed March 26 to the Javits New York Medical Station.

In other news, Major General Winski adds the stop move will be extended to sometime in June, with an official date to be announced in the coming days.

He says the stop move order was put in place to keep people from moving and possibly spreading COVID-19 from one installation or base to another.

In addition, Colonel Patrick Birchfield, Commander of Blanchfield Army Community Hospital says they have moved COVID-19 testing to a temporary location near the C entrance.

He adds this is not the longterm plan for testing, with more changes to be made soon.

For students, Winski adds the schedule for them to possibly return back to the classroom will follow what of schools in Christian and Montgomery counties. He says there is a very small chance that students will return to class this school year and discussions are ongoing about how seniors will celebrate their commencement.
