COVID-19 Cases Continue To Rise In Montgomery County

Officials in Montgomery County, Tennessee continue to see the number of COVID-19 cases climb.

As of 2 p.m. Thursday, officials confirmed there were 72 positive COVID-19 cases in the county, up from 65 cases of the virus reported on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the mayors of Clarksville and Montgomery County extended the Emergency and Executive Orders directing citizens to practice social distancing and shelter at home except when engaging in essential activities or services.

The local actions were taken March 31 to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The orders were extended through 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, April 14.

Essential activities and services include healthcare, public safety, communications and media, banking, food production and distribution, vehicles, fuel and support, and many manufacturing facilities.

Under the orders, all gatherings are strongly discouraged, and those with more than ten people are strictly prohibited.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported Thursday there are now 4,362 coronavirus cases statewide, including 79 deaths, 449 hospitalizations, and 592 individuals have recovered.
