Ft. Campbell Announces Transition To Mission Essential Status

During a Tuesday evening town hall, Fort Campbell 101st Airborne Commander Major General Brian Winski announced the military base is transitioning to “Mission Essential Manning” beginning Wednesday.

Commanding General, Winski reports, as of Tuesday evening, there were zero confirmed cases of the virus, even though over 200 people have been tested. Officials are still waiting for results of several of the tests, as drive-thru testing continues on Post.

Winski adds they are making some changes across the base.

Fort Campell officials also announced that the 531st Hospital Group is likely to deploy to New York to help with the COVID-19 outbreak.

There will be revised holiday hours for all of the gates, except for the ones open 24/7 and all dining facilities will be transitioning to take-out only. Visitors are still allowed on base but health screenings will be completed before you can enter.

Blanchfield Army Community Hospital Commander, Colonel Patrick Birchfield, says elective surgeries are being placed on hold to preserve personnel and capacity at the hospital. Birchfield says they are also re-configuring some entrances to the building.
