Another COVID-19 Case Confirmed In Christian County

Christian County Health Department officials say a third positive COVID-19 case has been confirmed in the county.

Public Health Director Kayla Bebout announced during a Monday afternoon teleconference a 21-year old female tested positive who was in direct contact with the presumptive positive case of the 24-year old male announced Sunday. She adds the 21-year old patient is at home.

She adds they are in the process of contacting those who have been in direct contact with the 21-year old female.

Bebout says it is unknown at this time how the 21-year old female and 24-year old male contracted the COVID-19 virus. She adds they have asked those who have been in contact with the female to self-quarantine and self-monitor during this time, adding that the health department will also continue to monitor the patient.

Unless you have been contacted by the Christian County Health Department, Bebout states you are not considered a direct contact of the COVID-19 case.

As of Monday, Bebout says there are two confirmed coronavirus cases and a presumptive positive case in Christian County.

She said the presumptive case was administered by a Hopkinsville physician and conducted by a private lab.

Jennie Stuart Health officials said that the 21-year old female case came to the Emergency Department, but there are no concerns of risk because they utilized their PPE appropriately before the patient entered the facility.

Bebout also provided an update about the 61-year old female who was the first positive COVID-19 case in Christian County, stating  she is feeling well.

As of 2:45 Monday afternoon, Jennie Stuart Medical Staff Vice President Dr. Keith Toms says nearly 80 people had been assessed at the drive-thru at the Express Lab on Eagle Way Bypass with one-third of those individuals actually tested for the COVID-19 virus.

He also announced no screening and testing would be conducted Tuesday at the Express Lab drive-thru due to the threat of severe weather.

Bebout urged all businesses and organizations to comply with the governor’s request to cease all non-essential business as of 8:00 Monday night.

She also encouraged everyone to practice social distancing of 6 feet and more, cover your nose and mouth when sneezing and wash your hands three to four times more than normal. In addition, she encouraged all citizens to stay at home if they are sick.
