COVID-19 Forcing The Closure Of Non-Essential Retail Businesses

Governor Andy Beshear announced Sunday evening the closure of all non-essential retail businesses by Monday night.

Beshear says all of the businesses must close to in-person traffic by 8:00 PM.

Those businesses may offer curbside pick-up or delivery, similar to restaurants. Beshear says this does not impact grocery stores and other essential businesses.

In addition, Beshear adds all healthcare providers must cease elective procedures until further notice.

Beshear ensures he will not issue a shelter in place.

During the question portion of Sunday’s news conference, Beshear urged everyone to wash your hands or sanitize immediately after using gas pumps.

Beshear also gave a shoutout to the Todd County Health Department for their work with the Amish and Mennonite communities.

As of Sunday evening, there are 103 confirmed cases, including a new case in Christian, Henderson, and Hardin counties. With multiple new cases confirmed in Jefferson and Fayette counties. Beshear confirmed well over 2,000 tests have been administered statewide, with the average age of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 just over 53.3.
