Police have charged a Hopkinsville man with assault after he reportedly hit a woman with a car on Whitney Place Saturday afternoon.
Law Enforcement says 37-year-old Darrell Maxie was fighting with his girlfriend when Maxie was hit in the head with an object. He then attempted to hit his girlfriend with his car but missed and hit her cousin.
Maxie fled to his East 2nd Street home and called for police. An ambulance took the woman from Whitney Place to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
Maxie was also taken to the hospital for head injuries and later charged with second-degree assault.
