UPDATE – APSU Classes To Remain Online Rest Of Semester

Officials with Austin Peay State University announced Monday afternoon classes will remain now online for the rest of the spring semester in order to follow new recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to stop the spread of COVID-19.

APSU officials announced last week that classes were suspended until March 23, which is still in effect and includes the Unversity’s shortened Spring II and Spring B semesters. They say any assignments that were due this week should have a new due date.

According to officials, any students in courses that require clinicals or hands-on instruction should contact their academic departments for information specific to their situation.

Faculty and staff members who can perform their duties from home should do so and consider telecommuting, and discuss options with their supervisors.

In addition, APSU officials announced Tuesday this spring’s commencement ceremony on May 8 and May 9 will be delayed because of concerns over COVID-19.

APSU President Alisa White says they will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and attempt to identify a later date for spring commencement based upon updated guidance from the CDC.

If the University is able to identify an alternative date for spring commencement, graduates can either participate in that ceremony, the August of December ceremonies. Information, including any updates about a rescheduled spring commencement, will be posted to the commencement website.
