HCCPL Closing Tuesday Afternoon Due To COVID-19

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library (HCCPL) will close at the end of business Tuesday in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Outreach Librarian Elysa Parks says the library will remain closed through Sunday, March 29th and all scheduled programs are canceled through Saturday, March 28th, including meeting room usage. She adds the library will reopen to Monday, March 30th at their regularly scheduled time, if safe to do so.

According to Parks, all materials that are due back by Tuesday should be returned by close of business at 6:30 p.m. She adds materials that are currently checked out, and are not due until after March 17th, may be returned at any time at one of the two book drops located at the library. She says overdue fines will not accrue for those materials during the closure.

During the closure, Parks says staff will work in the building to process returns, answer phone calls, and perform other critical tasks. She adds patrons can also receive reference service and support by accessing digital resources and/or by calling the library between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Officials indicate HCCPL will continue to provide free Wi-Fi, 24/7, available in the immediate area surrounding the outside of the library.
