Citizens Encouraged To Donate Blood To Maintain Supply

Since the number of coronavirus cases is growing in Kentucky and across the United States, officials with the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center are advising area residents it’s imperative to continue to give blood to maintain an adequate supply.

With two blood drives scheduled in Christian County this week, Blood Center spokeswoman Robbin Shively says the coronavirus does not pose a risk to blood donors, either during the donation process or from attending organized blood drives.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration, she adds there are measures in place to ensure the safety of the blood supply.

A blood drive will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 at Cerulean Baptist Church. A second blood drive scheduled Thursday afternoon from 3:30 until 7:00 at the Sinking Fork Elementary School with the bloodmobile to be parked in the front parking lot.
