The Department for Community Based Services is working to educate the public on the vital need for foster care and adoption in our Commonwealth.
Maria Cansler with DCBS Foster Care and Adoption spoke to Kiwanians during Thursday’s meeting to underscore the need for foster parents. She says there are several common reasons why a child may end up in the system.
Cansler notes there are more foster kids in Kentucky than in the state of New York.
She adds there is a substantial need for foster parents, especially those that are willing to adopt siblings.
Cansler says Christian County contains more foster children than other surrounding counties.
