Two Princeton residents are facing drug trafficking charges following a joint investigation by the Princeton Police Department and Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.

Princeton Police Chief Chris King states that officers received a complaint of suspicious activity, involving possible drug activity, near the 500 block of Varmint Trace just after 11:30 Wednesday night. He adds that when officers arrived on scene they made contact with 24-year-old Tyler J. Long. Following an investigation, Long was allegedly found to be in possession of approximately 4.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, which was found in a pants pocket.

Long was taken into custody and charged with his second offense of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance as well as other various lesser charges.

Caldwell County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Chris Noel reports that less than a half-hour later, just before midnight Thursday, a deputy received information about possible drug activity and suspicious persons in the 900 block of Varmint Trace. He adds that the deputy then located 35-year-old Gavin Grissom at the scene and determined that he was allegedly in possession of illicit substances.

Grissom was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia buying or possessing, possession of marijuana, and public intoxication – controlled substance. Noel states that another small bag of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was reported located on Grissom’s person once he was transported to the Caldwell County Jail.

Both Long and Grissom were then lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Princeton Police Department.
