Man Arrested After Pursuit In Hopkinsville

A man was arrested after he reportedly led law enforcement on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle Tuesday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop a van on East 20th Street near South Main Street that had been reported stolen from a rehab center in Owensboro.

The driver 44-year-old Timothy Wharton of Owensboro fled at speeds of 60 MPH, failed to stop at a stop sign and crossed into the opposite lane of traffic during the pursuit.

Law enforcement used spike strips on Cox Mill Road before Eagle Way and the van ran off the road on Cox Mill Road near the intersection of Gary Lane.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to block the van from getting back on the roadway and Wharton was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, receiving stolen property and first-degree criminal mischief.
