City Accepting Applications For Ward 6 Council Seat

Now that former councilman Wendell Lynch has been sworn-in as mayor, Hopkinsville City Council has started the process of accepting applications from residents of ward six who are interested in filling the vacancy created by his appointment.

Lynch was administered the Oath of Office by his brother, former Christian County District Judge Arnold Lynch Sunday during a ceremony at the War Memorial building in downtown Hopkinsville. Lynch was elected as mayor by his fellow council members on Tuesday, February 18, by a unanimous vote. He will officially take office on March 1 and will serve as mayor until a special election in November to fill the remainder of Carter Hendricks’ term. Hendricks stepped down February 1 to become the new South West Kentucky EDC Director.

Those interested in applying for the ward six seat on City Council can obtain an application on the City’s website (www.hopkinsvilleky.us) or by contacting the City Clerk’s Office at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center. Applications must be received by the City Clerk’s Office by 4:30 Thursday afternoon, March 5th.
