Princeton Now Has a New Assistant Police Chief

Princeton Mayor Kota Young with newly hired Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison

Princeton now has a new Assistant Police Chief.

According to Mayor Kota Young, the state approved the appointment of retired Eddyville Police Chief Shane Allison at the beginning of the month. He adds that the city had to wait for state approval before officially hiring Allison due to his retirement from the Eddyville Police Department and subsequent hiring under the Princeton Police Department.

Mayor Young notes that as a retired officer Allison is eligible for contract stipulations provided through the Kentucky General Assembly that could save the city up to $30,000 and expresses that Allison’s experience with the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force will hopefully allow the city to continue to increase and strengthen drug enforcement.

Allison retired from the Eddyville Police Department in December 2019 after serving as Chief for sixteen years and has an additional four years of experience in law enforcement.
