Crime Stoppers Fugitive Arrested For Credit Card Fraud

A fugitive featured on Crime Stoppers Wednesday was taken into custody when she turned herself in at the Christian County Jail.

Hopkinsville Police report 42-year old Karen Putney of Hopkinsville was wanted on a warrant for fraudulent use of a credit card over $500 but under $10,000 and knowingly exploiting an adult person over $300.

According to the arrest warrant, Putney allegedly used credit cards belonging to an 82-year old victim and made purchases over $5,300 between August 9, and September 19, 2019. Police say Putney made four fraudulent transactions with a JC Penney card for over $1,100 and made eighteen fraudulent transactions with a Citibank card totaling more than $4,100.

Police report Putney was the caregiver for the victim, who was in the hospital and then in a nursing home when the majority of the transactions were conducted.
