New Trigg Middle School Office Opening Next Week

Trigg County Middle School is excited to announce its new safety vestibule project has been completed.

In a letter sent home to parents and guardians this week, Principal Amy Breckel says the new front office will open Tuesday. She adds the new office is on the north side of the building and serves as the new check-in for all visitors and guests and will be used for all student check-ins and outs. In addition, the family resource center and the nurse’s office will be located near the new entrance.

Breckel notes the new entrance will be designated with two red flags until they are able to secure more permanent signage.

The new office and entrance come after the passage of Senate Bill 1, which was signed by former Governor Matt Bevin in March 2019 and mandates schools to restrict access to each building by July 1, 2022. The law was enacted following the fatal shooting of two students at Marshall County High School on January 23, 2018.

The total cost of the vestibule installation and the moving the office cost over $585,000 and was paid for with cash the district had on hand.
