State law enforcement is reminding those who may be suffering from substance use disorder that help is available through their Angel Initiative.
Kentucky State Police Post 2 Public Affairs Officer Trooper Rob Austin says that the program was launched in March 2018 and encourages those suffering from addiction to visit their local KSP post for assistance with treatment.

He adds that in 2019, 129 people statewide, including 6 individuals within Post 2, sought help from the program. Of those, 99 candidates were successfully placed in a same-day treatment program but the effect reaches much broader than just those seeking help.

Trooper Austin states that the program is a great way for someone who has been trying to find help but hasn’t been successful on their own.

He notes that the most self-reported drugs abused in 2019 included methamphetamine, prescription opiates and heroin, and marijuana.
