Morganfield Couple Charged With Possessing Drugs & Fake Money

Two people from Union County were arrested in Lyon County on Christmas Day after deputies say they were found in possession of drugs and fake money.

Lyon County Sheriff Brent White reports he was patrolling Kentkcy 93 when he tried to make a traffic stop for a vehicle registration violation shortly before 3:30 Wednesday afternoon and the driver continued on and turned onto Kentucky 730 West before finally stopping.  During the stop, Sheriff White found that the driver, 49-year old Ronart Wedding of Morganfield had an expired operator’s license and he had also failed to maintain required liability insurance.

Upon further investigation, Sheriff White says he found suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, and Legend Drugs (i.e. pills) in the vehicle, along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia and a counterfeit $100 bill.

Sheriff White also learned that Wedding had dropped off a female passenger, 38-year old Beri Sheely of Morganfield, at a residence in Eddyville prior to the traffic stop. After Eddyville Police found Sheely and took her to the sheriff’s office to be interviewed regarding the items found in the vehicle, she was arrested and reportedly found in possession of additional counterfeit money.

Both Wedding and Sheely were booked into the Crittenden County Detention Center charged with possession of marijuana, meth, and a Legend Drug along with possession of drug paraphernalia and first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. Wedding was also charged with insurance and registration offenses related to the traffic stop.
