Hopkinsville Man Charged With Assaulting Girlfriend

A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting his girlfriend and trafficking synthetic drugs on Moseley Drive Sunday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say 27-year-old Alex Settles choked and hit his girlfriend shoving her head against the floor and kicking her before trying to get her to go into a closet.

Settles reportedly hid two guns inside the home and as police were looking for the guns they found a plastic bag full of synthetic marijuana and a digital scale.

Settles was charged with first-degree strangulation, trafficking in synthetic drugs, fourth-degree assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
