Police Say Drugs And Moonshine Still Found At Eddyville Home

An ongoing investigation into an illegal narcotic trafficking case in Lyon County led to the arrest of a 71-year old Eddyville man Wednesday afternoon.

Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force Director David Thompson says detectives along with Eddyville Police officers, Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies and Princeton Police Department detectives executed a search warrant at the home of Dennis Traylor on Dianne Drive around 3:00 Wednesday afternoon.

During the investigation, Traylor was found at the residence and detained along with several other individuals before the search of the residence and property.

During a search of the residence, Thompson reports detectives seized a large number of assorted pills in multiple bottles along with approximately three ounces of marijuana, digital scales, and drug paraphernalia. Detectives also seized a loaded handgun with the pills, and about $2,000 in cash.

In addition, detectives reportedly found a fully operational moonshine still inside an outbuilding next to the home, along with about 50 cases of alcoholic beverages and numerous jars of moonshine whiskey. Thompson says they also found ingredients used to make moonshine and sample cups of moonshine as give-a-ways.

Thompson indicates complaints from neighbors to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Eddyville Police Department was instrumental in the joint investigation.

According to the report, Traylor was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance – opiates (Lortabs) over 10 dosage units, trafficking in marijuana under 8 ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia and alcohol-related offenses pertaining to the moonshine. All the charges are weapon enhanced. Traylor was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
